This striking home is an elegant
and spacious Scottish baronial house in a wonderful Highland
setting. It stands on the lower slopes of the Grampian Hills
and its commanding position provides spectacular views over
a charming little town, and to hills far beyond. The house has
been refurbished by the owner to an extremely high standard
as befits her business as an interior decorator. Pretty fabrics
enhance the tall, gracious rooms with their ornately moulded
ceilings and cornices. The fitted kitchen has every conceivable
piece of equipment. Set in 15 acres of pastures & woodlands,
with mountains leading to heathered moorland and a variety of
walks, offering sightings of eagles, grouse and red squirrel.
The location, in central Scotland makes an ideal base from which
to explore the rest of the country. There are woollen and tweed
shops, and numerous Scottish events throughout the summer. Pipe
bands in full tartan regalia, traditional country dancing, Ceilidhs
with songs in the old Gaelic language, the Pitlochry Festival
Theatre with its summer season of plays and concerts. Salmon
can be seen leaping the dam in the town. Nearby castles include
Glamis Castle - former home of the Queen Mother, Balmoral Castle
- one of the homes of Queen Elizabeth, Scone Palace, Menzies
Castle and Blair Castle - home of the Duke of Atholl and the
Atholl Highlanders, Europe’s only private army. Fishing,
deer staking, and grouse shooting can be arranged. Scottish
championship golf course within walking distance. St. Andrews
golf course is 1 hour. |
